Dual MultiFrax uses the same two wavelengths as the Fraxel Dual, 1550 nm and 1927 nm. The 1550 nm wavelength works deeper in the skin and the 1927 nm wavelength works closer to the surface. Dual MultiFrax is FDA 510(k) cleared (Multifrax Laser System, Paradigm Medical, K213332). The 1550 nm wavelength is cleared for skin resurfacing, dyschromia, certain skin lesions such as sun spots, actinic keratosis and melasma, and for periorbital wrinkles, acne scars and surgical scars. The 1927 nm wavelength is cleared for actinic keratosis and pigmented lesions such as sun spots and freckles. Other uses are off-label.
